Their own description (from YC)
Hyper is a shared brain that plugs into all information flowing inside a company, creates a self-maintaining knowledge graph, and makes your AI employees better and ultimately saves people time. Our in-house memory system scores at or above SOTA on most public benchmarks, and we've built a custom eval suite to measure our precision/recall metrics. In the last 12 days since launch, we've gotten top 5 / top 12 on hacker news & product hunt, onboarded 50+ teams, grown 0 to 1k MRR, and are scoping paid design pilots with co's like Razorpay and Snorkel AI. Our whole lives we've packaged hardcore engineering into beautifully simple products, and that's how we’ll win this platform shift.

Hyper (YC Spring 2026): teardown vs XMarts
In one line: Hyper reads a small team's docs, Slack, email and calendar, builds a shared "company brain", and feeds it to the AI tools the team already uses [yc] [launch]. Threat: 2, because it targets the same small-team buyer and our L1, but it is two people, three months old, and stops at memory and light task help [yc] [docs].
1. Fact file
| Item | Finding | Source |
|---|---|---|
| What they say | Site: "The self-driving company brain." YC line: "Company brain that powers your AI employees." Launch post: "Hyper learns your whole company to supercharge your AIs." | [site] [yc] [launch] |
| Founded, team, funding | Founded 2026. YC Spring 2026. Team of 2, San Francisco. Funding not confirmed: one tracker lists a $500k pre-seed (Jun 2026), another lists a seed in Mar 2026. Both are aggregators, so treat as UNVERIFIED. | [yc] [press] |
| Founders | Shalin Shah (CEO) and Kanyes Thaker (President). Both ex-Matic Robots (autonomy), Berkeley friends since day one. Thaker was a forward-deployed engineer at Snorkel AI who they say closed seven-figure renewals. What YC likely saw: a long-running founder pair with enterprise AI sales experience plus a fast launch (inference). | [yc] [launch] |
| Customers | No named customers. They claim 50+ teams onboarded and about $1K MRR in the first 12 days after launch. They say they are scoping paid design pilots with Razorpay and Snorkel AI. Nothing confirms these. | [yc] |
| Price | Not public. A 3-day free trial is reported. No pricing page content found. No job ads (0 open roles). | [press] [jobs] |
| Path | Launch on Launch YC, Hacker News and Product Hunt (Product Hunt: 29 May 2026, 105 upvotes). By Oct 2026 the docs describe a "desktop AI app" at version 1.11.0, not only a memory layer. No renames. | [launch] [hn] [producthunt] [docs] |
2. Their proposition, reverse engineered
| Part | What they do |
|---|---|
| Who buys | Founders and AI leads at small tech teams that run coding agents and AI tools [yc] [hn]. Founders say they are not yet a fit for government or medical use [hn]. |
| The pain | Agents forget customers, miss pivots, repeat mistakes. Users paste context by hand, write skills, or commit Markdown files to the repo [launch]. |
| The promise | "Hyper fixes all of this without you having to do anything." Setup in under 20 minutes (they claim) [launch]. |
| How it works | Ingest from docs, calendar, email, Slack, GitHub pull requests, conversations, Granola. Narrow agents (a "production line") merge and clean the data into a fact graph. Facts are timestamped, linked (supersedes, derives from, tension with), tagged with source and access rights. Context is pushed into Claude Code, Cowork, Codex and Cursor through hooks, or through MCP calls. A /correct skill lets humans fix facts [launch] [hn] [press]. |
| The output | Right context inside the AI tools a team already uses. Also a desktop app for research, meeting prep, plans and picking up a teammate's work [docs]. Example uses from comments: email drafts, contract reading, ticket triage (planned), parallel coding agents [producthunt] [hn]. |
| Proof style | Self-reported: top 5 on Hacker News and Product Hunt, 50+ teams, $1K MRR [yc]. They say the memory system matches the best public benchmarks and they built their own eval suite [yc]. In the HN thread they promised to publish LoCoMo and LongMemEval scores later and had published none then [hn]. |
| Who sells it | Founder-led. Demo booking page and a 3-day trial [yc] [press]. Self-serve app with release channels [docs]. |
| Price model | Not public. A free trial is reported [press]. |
| The story | AI is smart enough but lacks your company's context. Memory is not search: it is timed, tacit and changes. They tell critics "why not vibe-code this?" is wrong because access rules and upkeep are hard [hn]. |
3. Positioning
- Category they claim: "Self-driving company brain" [site]. Company brain for AI employees [yc].
- Category a YC partner would put them in: shared agent memory and context for small AI-native teams (inference).
- What they want to be known for: the context layer your AI tools read without you doing anything.
- Where they sit on the map: L1/L2/L3 = 3/1/1. Buyer: sme, business (with a developer-tool entry through coding-agent hooks).
4. Three layers vs ours
| Layer | Them (score + evidence) | Us (Marton's logs show) |
|---|---|---|
| L1 Company brain | 3. The fact graph is the core product: timestamps, source links, access tags, conflict handling, always updating [launch] [hn]. | A vault of about 1,400 pages, 112 call transcripts and about 8,700 customer quotes, searchable by meaning. Built for one person's business, not many users with permissions. |
| L2 Agent orchestration | 1. A set of narrow agents maintains the graph [hn]. For users, it feeds one agent at a time. No public sign of a team of agents with approvals or handovers [docs]. | About 5,600 jobs run by agents from three makers, each checked by a different AI. 864 reached the main code. |
| L3 Execution and learning | 1. The desktop app does tasks such as research and drafts [docs]. Facts are pulled from each response, and humans can correct them [hn]. No outcome measuring and no check on the work is public. | Every failure gets a record and an automatic check (about 160 incident records). Offer feedback lines fell from 44 to 18 as 22 rules were added. Only about 15% of jobs reached main. |
5. Same and different
| Topic | Same or different | Them | Us |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core belief | Same | Agents fail without the company's real context [launch]. | Same (brief). |
| Buyer size | Same | Small teams (founder or head of AI) [yc]. | SMEs and scale-ups (brief). |
| Start of the brain | Same | Reads calls, docs, email and Slack, including Granola [hn]. | Marton's logs show Granola calls pulled into the vault. |
| Who uses the brain | Different | Other AI tools and staff in their own tools [launch]. | Our own agents do the work; the brain feeds our agents (brief). |
| What it learns from | Different | Source updates and human corrections [hn]. | Marton's logs show rules added from failures and feedback on checked work. |
| Kind of work | Different | Context for work done elsewhere; light tasks in the app [docs]. | Marton's logs show agents do and check work, on Marton's own business only. |
| Delivery | Different | Self-serve software with hooks and a desktop app [docs]. | The system plus the two founders (brief). |
| Proof | Different | Teams onboarded, MRR, launch ranks (they claim) [yc]. | No customer number yet. |
| Price | Different | Free trial, price not public [press]. | Not set yet. |
| Size and age | Different | 2 people, 2026 [yc]. | 2 founders; the system has run since May 2026 (inventory). |
6. Wedge overlap
| Wedge | Fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| W3 Company memory from every call | adjacent | Same job: memory built from meetings, email and chat. Their buyer is small tech teams that run AI tools. W3 is for consultancies and services firms (brief). Granola is a named source [hn]. |
| W8 The other 90% of an AI skill | adjacent | They sell "no more writing skills or Markdown files by hand" and keep facts fresh and fixable [launch] [hn]. They do not talk about skill upkeep, retiring dead skills or use tracking (UNVERIFIED that none exists). |
W9 (ask my agent before you book my time) is a distant neighbour: shared knowledge lets a teammate "pick up work a teammate started" [docs]. Not scored here.
7. Whitespace (where they stop)
- Layer gap: they supply context; the work happens in someone else's agent, or in a light app [launch] [docs]. To own it we need one customer workflow where our agents do the work, a different AI checks it, and the brain updates from the result, run for 4+ weeks.
- Buyer gap: they skip regulated and government users (founders' own words) and sit in tech and AI-native teams [hn]. Services firms and consultancies are not named [yc] [hn]. To own it we need services-firm buyers who say they have the call-memory pain (W3 has no calls yet).
- Number gap: no benchmark scores or customer result published; the traction is signups and $1K MRR [hn] [yc]. To own it we need one before/after number a buyer would sign.
- Price gap: not testable. Price is not public. Unknown.
- Speed gap: not a gap. They claim setup under 20 minutes [launch].
8. For the YC application
- Proven today: Marton's logs show a company brain that is real data (about 1,400 vault pages, 112 call transcripts, about 8,700 customer quotes) and agents that act on it: about 5,600 jobs, each checked by a different AI, with about 160 failure records that each added an automatic check. Hyper's public results are signups and revenue, with no work-done or benchmark numbers yet [yc] [hn].
- Draft answer to "how are you different from Hyper?": DRAFT. "Hyper gives your AI tools better context. Our system also does the work, has a different AI check it, and feeds the result back into the brain. We run that on our own business every day." Founders say it their own way.
- Future claim (needs proof): "Our agents do the work for a services firm and the brain gets better from each checked result." Needs one customer workflow run for 4+ weeks with a before/after number.
- What we understand that they don't: a brain improves faster from checked results of finished work than from reading sources alone.
needs proofon a customer; Marton's logs show it on Marton's own work (offer feedback lines fell from 44 to 18 as rules were added). - Copyability (M3): medium. They already extract facts from each agent response and accept human corrections [hn], so adding a result-check loop is a natural next step and a team of 2 can ship it in months (inference). But a check-and-measure loop needs a customer workflow and an owned outcome, which pulls them from a self-serve context product toward doing the work (inference). Not
hard, so M3 can not score above 3 against Hyper alone. - Why now (M4): None found in this teardown. Do not use "agents can now do the work" or "agent memory is hot": that is general AI progress.
- Do not claim: "company brain" as our headline (their YC line and site use it). "We have customers" (none yet). "They don't do the work" without the caveat that their desktop app is growing [docs]. That the brain is multi-user with permissions (Marton's logs show it is single-user). Anything about their funding or customers (UNVERIFIED).
9. Ideas worth taking
- Keep old facts and mark them superseded, instead of deleting them. It lets a user see why an answer changed [hn].
- Push context in through coding-agent hooks, which they say work better than tool calls [hn]. Ideas only.
- A one-line
/correctfix path so humans repair the brain in the middle of work [hn].
10. Unknowns
- Their price and whether the 3-day trial turns into a paid plan. Look at the app's sign-up flow or ask a user.
- Whether the 50+ teams and $1K MRR are real and still growing, and whether Razorpay or Snorkel signed. Re-check their X account and the YC page later.
- Funding amount and investors. Only aggregators list it.
- Benchmark scores (LoCoMo, LongMemEval). They promised to publish [hn]; check their site and blog.
- Whether the desktop app now does multi-step agent work (would raise L2/L3). Read the docs release notes.
- UK or EU customers. GDPR support was "in the works" in the Product Hunt replies [producthunt]. The marketing site is a script-built page and the fetch returned only the headline, so site claims came from the YC, launch and Product Hunt pages.
